Trump announces the death of Hamza bin Laden
US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced the death of Hamza bin Laden, the son of the late al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Trump said Hamza bin Laden was killed in a U.S. counterterrorism operation in Afghanistan/Pakistan, Reuters reported.
"The loss of Hamza bin Laden not only deprives al-Qaeda of important leadership skills and symbolic relationship with his father, but also undermines the group's important operational activities," Trump said, according to Sky News Arabia. Hamza bin Laden is responsible for planning and dealing with various terrorist groups."
U.S. press reports said in July that Hamza had been killed, citing unidentified US intelligence sources. Hamza, believed to be 30 years old, was posting voice messages and videos calling for attacks on the United States and other countries.
